Fructal is an innovative and recognizable company that consistently expresses its mission and the mission of its brands. The core values Fructal has upheld throughout its years of operation are quality and a positive relationship with nature.

Fructal planted its apple tree as early as October 5, 1945, when five workers began producing fruit spreads in an abandoned building of a former textile factory. Thanks to the dedication and sense of belonging among employees, the company developed and progressed exceptionally quickly in every respect, and consumers gladly followed along, supporting the company’s growth.

Today, Fructal has a 75-year tradition and has evolved into a company that produces and successfully markets high-quality products made from the finest fruit and other gifts of nature.

Fructal through the years

Meeting rigorous food safety requirements

1945-1954

The beginning

Fructal began in 1945 with a small team in a former textile factory in Ajdovščina. What started with fruit spreads soon grew into a broader production effort, supported by new equipment, new processes, and the first steps toward international presentation. In 1953, the company modernized jam production and adopted the name that would later become closely tied to Ajdovščina.

1955-1964

The road to industrial production

This decade marked Fructal’s shift from a craft-based business to true industrial production. The company expanded its facilities, modernized transport and technology, and introduced new filling lines. These investments laid the foundation for stronger growth, wider recognition, and the first major Fructal trademarks.

1965–1974

A stronger position at home

During the 1960s and early 1970s, Fructal invested heavily in technology and product quality. New filling lines and production upgrades improved efficiency and helped raise the standard of its juices and beverages. By the early 1970s, Fructal had become one of the leading fruit juice producers in Yugoslavia, while also expanding into syrups, marmalades, and children’s products.

1975–1984

Bigger and more successful

This period was defined by expansion, new programs, and major investment. Fructal broadened its product range, entered baby food, introduced new packaging formats, and improved employee training. By the mid-1980s, the company had grown into a much larger and more capable business with a strong market position.

1985–1994

Another turning point

Fructal continued to expand its range with new soft drinks, fruit beverages, and product formats that reflected changing consumer habits. The company introduced important technological upgrades, launched new brands, and adapted to major market shifts at the start of the 1990s. Even in a changing business environment, Fructal kept building its reputation for quality.

1995–2005

Continuing a successful path

In 1995, Fructal became a public joint-stock company. The following years brought a strong focus on quality management, certification, and investment in production. The business also expanded through new brands, broader regional presence, and updated packaging, while reinforcing Fructal’s position as a recognizable and trusted name in beverages and food products.

In step with the times

Fructal entered this period with a strong focus on innovation and changing consumer needs. The company introduced new juice lines, reduced-sugar products, functional drinks, and refreshed brand identities. With continued investment in development, packaging, and new categories, Fructal stayed relevant in a market shaped by health trends, lifestyle shifts, and stronger competition.
